How to Use AIVA

A practical guide to get you up and running with AIVA. Written by Delv Editorial, Delv Team.

Getting started with AIVA

In this guide, you'll learn how to create original soundtracks using AIVA, an AI music composition tool. By the end, you'll be able to generate music tracks tailored to your projects, whether for films, games, or personal use.

Step 1: Sign up and set up

  1. Go to aiva.ai.
  2. Click on the “Sign Up” button located at the top right corner.
  3. Fill in your details or sign up using a Google account.
  4. Once registered, you'll be taken to the dashboard. The free plan allows you to create and download up to 3 tracks per month, but note that these tracks cannot be used commercially.

Step 2: Your first composition

  1. On the dashboard, click on the “Create” button.
  2. Select your desired genre from the options (e.g., Classical, Jazz, Electronic).
  3. Choose a style (e.g., Happy, Sad, Dramatic) that fits your project.
  4. Adjust the instrumentation by clicking on “Instruments” and selecting the ones you want to include.
  5. Click “Generate” to create your first track. AIVA will process your selections and produce a unique composition.
  6. Once the track is ready, click on “Listen” to preview it. If you're happy, click “Download” to save it (up to 3 downloads per month on the free plan).

Step 3: Get better results

  • Experiment with different combinations of genres and styles to find the perfect sound for your project.
  • Use the “Edit” feature to fine-tune your track. You can adjust tempo, instrumentation, and structure.
  • For more advanced options, explore the “Upload” feature to incorporate existing tracks and blend them with AIVA's compositions.

Pro tip

When generating a track, try using the “Mood” filter to quickly find compositions that match the emotional tone of your project. This can save you time searching through tracks.

Common mistake to avoid

Avoid rushing through the genre and style selection. Taking a moment to consider the mood and purpose of your project will lead to more suitable compositions and save you from unnecessary re-generations.
