Step 1: Sign up and set up

  1. Go to ATLAS.ti's website.
  2. Click on the "Get Started" button on the homepage.

  4. Fill in your details to create an account and follow the prompts to verify your email.
  5. Once logged in, you will be taken to the dashboard where you can start a new project.

Step 2: Your first project

  1. On the dashboard, click the "New Project" button.
  2. Name your project and click "Create".
  3. To import data, click on "Import Data" and select the files you want to analyse (e.g., text files, audio transcripts).
  4. Once imported, select the document from the project view.
  5. Highlight sections of text you want to code, then click the "Code" button that appears above the text.
  6. Create a new code or select an existing one to apply it to the highlighted text.

Step 3: Get better results

  1. Use the "AI Tools" section in the menu to access features like sentiment analysis and concept extraction.
  2. For coding, make use of the "Auto-Coding" feature by selecting the relevant document, then clicking on the "Auto-Code" button to let the AI suggest codes for you.
  3. Regularly use the "Summary" feature to generate AI-driven insights from your coded data.

Take advantage of the "Code Manager" to organise your codes effectively. This will save you time when searching for specific codes later on.
