Getting started with Beehiiv

In this guide, you'll learn how to set up your Beehiiv account and create your first newsletter. You'll be able to grow your audience and monetise your content effectively.

Step 1: Sign up and set up

1. Go to Beehiiv's website.
2. Click on the Get Started button at the top right of the homepage.
3. Fill in your email address and create a password, then click Sign Up.
4. Confirm your email through the verification email sent to you.
5. Once verified, log in to your account and complete your profile by filling in details like your name and newsletter title.

Step 2: Your first newsletter

1. From your dashboard, click on the Create Newsletter button.
2. Choose a template from the options provided, or select Blank to start from scratch.
3. Use the drag-and-drop editor to add elements like text, images, and buttons. Click on each element to edit content.
4. To add sections, click on the Add Section button at the bottom of the editor.
5. Once you're satisfied with your newsletter, click on the Preview button to see how it looks.
6. Click Send to distribute your newsletter to your subscribers.

Step 3: Get better results

1. Use the Audience tab to segment your subscribers based on their interests. Click Create Segment and choose criteria like engagement level.
2. Set up a Referral Program under the Growth section to encourage your readers to share your newsletter. Click Add Referral Program to configure rewards.
3. Regularly check the Analytics section to monitor open rates and subscriber growth. This will help you refine your content strategy.

Pro tip

Use the A/B Testing feature available in the editor. This lets you test different subject lines or content formats to see which performs better before sending.

Common mistake to avoid

Avoid ignoring the importance of your newsletter's subject line. A weak subject line can lead to low open rates. Spend time crafting an engaging subject that entices readers to open your email.
