Getting started with Captions

In this guide, you'll learn how to set up Captions and create your first video with animated captions, while also removing filler words and correcting eye contact. You'll be ready to enhance your video content in just a few minutes.

Step 1: Sign up and set up

1. Go to Captions website.
2. Click on the "Get Started Free" button on the homepage.
3. Sign up using your email address or through a social media account.
4. Choose the free tier to access basic features, or upgrade to Pro for $9.99/month later if needed.
5. Once signed in, you’ll be taken to the dashboard.

Step 2: Your first video

1. Click on the "Upload Video" button on the dashboard.
2. Select the video file you want to edit from your device.
3. After the video uploads, click on the "Generate Captions" button.
4. Wait for the AI to process your video and generate captions. This may take a few moments.
5. Review the captions. You can edit any text directly by clicking on it.
6. To remove filler words, toggle the "Remove Filler Words" switch in the settings menu.
7. Once satisfied, click on the "Export" button to save your edited video.

Step 3: Get better results

• Use the "Eye Contact" feature to adjust how you appear on screen. Access this by clicking on the "Eye Contact" option in the editing panel and adjusting the slider.
• For better animation sync, ensure your speech is clear and at a moderate pace during recording.
• Experiment with different caption styles by selecting the "Caption Styles" option before exporting.

Pro tip

Take advantage of keyboard shortcuts while editing. For instance, use the "Ctrl + Z" (or "Cmd + Z" on Mac) to quickly undo any changes you make.

Common mistake to avoid

Many users forget to check the generated captions for accuracy. Always review and edit captions before exporting to ensure they match your spoken words.
