How to Use Clipping Magic

Getting started with Clipping Magic

In this guide, you'll learn how to efficiently remove backgrounds from images using Clipping Magic. You’ll be able to upload your images, remove backgrounds automatically, and refine the results to achieve a polished look.

Step 1: Sign up and set up

1. Go to Clipping Magic.
2. Click on the "Sign Up" button in the top right corner.
3. Choose a subscription plan that suits you. Note that Clipping Magic does not offer a free tier, but you can start with a free trial if available.
4. Enter your email and create a password, then click "Create Account".

Step 2: Your first background removal

1. After logging in, click the "Upload Image" button in the centre of the screen.
2. Select the image you want to edit from your device.
3. Once uploaded, Clipping Magic will automatically remove the background. You’ll see the original image on the left and the processed image on the right.
4. To refine the edges, use the "Green Marker" to mark areas to keep and the "Red Marker" to mark areas to remove.
5. Adjust the edge settings using the "Feather" and "Smoothing" sliders on the right panel for a more polished result.
6. When satisfied, click the "Download" button to save your edited image.

Step 3: Get better results

1. Use the "Zoom" feature in the top left to closely inspect edges for fine-tuning.
2. Experiment with the "Background" options to add a new background colour or image if desired.
3. Regularly toggle between the original and processed images by clicking on the "Before/After" button to ensure the best result.

Pro tip

Use keyboard shortcuts: Press "Ctrl + Z" (or "Cmd + Z" on Mac) to quickly undo any changes if you make a mistake during the refinement process. This speeds up your workflow significantly.

Common mistake to avoid

Many users forget to zoom in when refining edges, leading to visible imperfections. Always zoom in to ensure that your adjustments are precise, especially around complex areas like hair or intricate details.
