Getting started with ComfyUI

Step 1: Sign up and set up

1. Go to ComfyUI.
2. Click on the "Get Started" button on the homepage.
3. Follow the prompts to create a free account using your email.
4. Once signed in, you’ll be directed to the main dashboard. Familiarise yourself with the layout, including the node workspace and toolbox.

Step 2: Your first image

1. In the dashboard, click on "Create New Project".
2. Drag and drop the "Image Generator" node from the toolbox into the workspace.
3. Connect this node to the "Output" node by clicking on the small circles on the edges of each node.
4. Click on the "Image Generator" node to configure its settings. Enter a prompt describing the image you want to create (e.g., "a serene mountain landscape").
5. Hit the "Run" button at the top right. After processing, your generated image will appear in the output area.

Step 3: Get better results

1. Experiment with different nodes like "Style Transfer" or "Image Enhancer" by adding them to your project and connecting them in various ways.
2. Adjust parameters within each node for finer control over your outputs. For example, increase the resolution in the "Image Generator" settings for higher-quality images.
3. Use the "Preview" option before running the entire project to save processing time.

Pro tip

Use keyboard shortcuts like "Ctrl + Z" to undo changes and "Ctrl + S" to save your project frequently. This can save you time and prevent loss of progress.

Common mistake to avoid

Avoid leaving nodes unconnected. Each node needs to be properly linked to work as intended. Double-check your connections if the output isn’t generating as expected.
