Getting started with Compose AI

Step 1: Sign up and set up

1. Open your Chrome browser and go to Compose AI.
2. Click on the "Get Started" button on the homepage.
3. You’ll be prompted to install the Chrome extension. Click “Add to Chrome” in the Chrome Web Store.
4. Once installed, click on the Compose AI icon in your extensions bar to activate it.
5. Sign up for a free account using your email address or Google account when prompted.

Step 2: Your first writing task

1. Open a new document or email where you want to write.
2. Start typing your sentence. As you type, you will see suggestions appear below your cursor.
3. Press the “Tab” key or click on the suggestion to autocomplete the sentence.
4. Continue typing to see more suggestions as you write.

Step 3: Get better results

1. To tailor the suggestions to your writing style, go to the Compose AI settings by clicking the extension icon and selecting "Settings."
2. Enable the “Personalisation” feature to improve the accuracy of suggestions based on your previous writing.
3. Experiment with different writing styles by selecting “Tone” settings in the same menu to adjust how formal or casual the suggestions are.
4. Use keyboard shortcuts (e.g., "Ctrl + Space") to quickly access suggestions without disrupting your workflow.

Pro tip

Most beginners overlook the "Custom Templates" feature. Create templates for frequently used phrases or sentences by clicking on the "Templates" section in the settings. This saves time on repetitive writing tasks.

Common mistake to avoid

Avoid typing too fast without reviewing the suggestions. Some suggestions may not fit your context perfectly. Always read through the completed sentences to ensure they align with your intended message before sending or publishing.
