Getting started with Crayon

In this guide, you will learn how to set up Crayon and start tracking your competitors’ activities effectively. By the end, you'll be able to monitor competitor insights that can inform your sales and marketing strategies.

Step 1: Sign up and set up

  1. Visit Crayon's website.
  2. Click on the “Get Started” button located at the top right corner.
  3. Fill in your details to create an account. You may need to verify your email address.
  4. Once logged in, you’ll be prompted to set up your company profile. Enter your company name and industry to tailor your experience.

Step 2: Your first competitor tracking

  1. In the dashboard, click on “Competitors” from the left-hand menu.
  2. Select “Add Competitor” at the top right.
  3. Enter the name of the competitor you want to track and click “Search”.
  4. Choose the correct competitor from the suggestions and click “Add”.
  5. After adding, navigate to the “Insights” tab to view the latest updates, including product launches and pricing changes.

Step 3: Get better results

  1. Use the filter options in the Insights tab to narrow down results by type, date, or relevance.
  2. Set up alerts by clicking on the bell icon next to the competitor’s name to receive notifications for any significant changes.
  3. Regularly review the “Market Trends” section to stay updated on broader industry developments.

Pro tip

Make the most of the “Custom Reports” feature. You can create tailored reports that focus on specific competitors or market trends, allowing you to share insights easily with your team.

Common mistake to avoid

Don't forget to regularly update your competitor list. Many users add competitors but neglect to remove those that are no longer relevant, which can clutter your insights and make it harder to find valuable information.
