Getting started with Crayon

In this guide, you'll learn how to set up Crayon and start tracking your competitors’ activities, such as pricing changes and product launches. By the end, you'll be ready to gather valuable insights without manual effort.

Step 1: Sign up and set up

  1. Go to Crayon's website.
  2. Click on the Get Started button located at the top right corner.
  3. Fill in the required information to create your account. Note that Crayon does not offer a free tier, so you may need to contact sales for pricing details.
  4. Once your account is set up, log in to access the dashboard.

Step 2: Your first competitor tracking

  1. After logging in, navigate to the Competitors tab on the left sidebar.
  2. Click on Add Competitor to input the websites of competitors you want to track.
  3. Enter the competitor’s URL and click Save.
  4. Crayon will automatically start tracking changes on that website. You can view updates by clicking on the competitor's name in your list.

Step 3: Get better results

  1. Use the Alerts feature by clicking on the Alerts tab to set up notifications for specific changes, such as pricing updates or product launches.
  2. In the Insights section, you can filter updates based on categories like Messaging or Product Launches for a more tailored view.
  3. Regularly check the Dashboard for an overview of recent changes across all tracked competitors.

Pro tip

Set up multiple alerts for different competitors to receive timely updates without having to check manually. This can save you time and ensure you never miss important changes.

Common mistake to avoid

Avoid adding too many competitors at once. Start with a few key competitors to ensure you can effectively manage and analyse the information without feeling overwhelmed.
