Getting started with DeepL
In this guide, you will learn how to translate text and documents quickly and effectively using DeepL. You’ll be able to access its free features and start producing natural-sounding translations in just a few minutes.Step 1: Sign up and set up
- Go to DeepL's website.
- Click on the "Sign Up" button in the top right corner.
- Choose the "Free" option and enter your email address and password, then click "Create Account."
- After confirming your email, log in to your account. You can also use DeepL without an account by clicking "Translate now" for basic features.
Step 2: Your first translation
- Once logged in, you’ll see a text box on the homepage.
- Enter the text you want to translate in the left box.
- Select the source language (or choose "Auto" for automatic detection).
- Choose your target language from the dropdown menu on the right.
- Your translation will appear instantly in the right box. You can click on the translated text to copy it or click the "Download" button if you want to save it as a document.
Step 3: Get better results
- For longer texts, use the "Document Translation" feature by clicking on "Documents" in the top menu. Upload your document and select the target language.
- Experiment with the "Formal" and "Informal" options if available, which adjust the tone of the translation.
- Review and edit the translations by clicking on specific phrases to see alternative translations or suggestions.
