Getting started with Domo

In this guide, you'll learn how to set up Domo and create your first dashboard to track key metrics. By the end, you'll be able to connect data sources and visualise insights in real-time.

Step 1: Sign up and set up

  1. Go to Domo's website.
  2. Click on the “Get Started Free” button in the top right corner.
  3. Fill in your details (name, email, and password) and click “Sign Up”.
  4. Confirm your email address by clicking the link in the confirmation email.
  5. Log in to your new Domo account.

Step 2: Your first dashboard

  1. Once logged in, click on the “+” icon in the top left corner to create a new card.
  2. Select “Data” from the dropdown menu.
  3. Choose a data source by clicking “Connectors”, then select a source (like Google Sheets or Salesforce).
  4. Authorise Domo to access your data by following the prompts.
  5. After connecting, use the “Data” tab to select the dataset you want to visualise.
  6. Click “Create Card” and choose the type of visualisation (e.g., bar chart, line graph).
  7. Drag and drop the fields you want to include in your visualisation, then click “Save”.

Step 3: Get better results

  1. Use filters to refine the data shown in your dashboard. Click on the "Filters" icon while editing your card.
  2. Explore the “Predictive Analytics” options under the “Advanced” tab when creating a card to forecast trends.
3. To share your dashboard, click the “Share” button in the top right corner and select your sharing options.

Pro tip

Use the “Domo University” accessible from the help menu to find quick video tutorials on specific features, saving you time on learning.

Common mistake to avoid

Don't skip the data connection authorisation step. If you don't authorise Domo to access your data sources properly, your dashboards will not populate with any information.
