Getting started with Erase.bg

In this guide, you'll learn how to quickly remove backgrounds from images using Erase.bg. After reading, you'll be able to upload images and download clean cutouts in just a few clicks.

Step 1: Sign up and set up

  1. Go to Erase.bg.
  2. You can start without signing up, but creating an account allows you to save your work. Click on the "Sign Up" button at the top right corner if you wish to register.
  3. Fill in your details and confirm your email if required. Otherwise, you can simply click on "Upload Image" to begin.

Step 2: Your first background removal

  1. Click the "Upload Image" button.
  2. Select the image file (JPEG, PNG, or TIFF) from your computer that you want to work with.
  3. Wait a few seconds for the processing to complete. The tool will automatically remove the background.
  4. Once done, you will see a preview of the cutout. If you're satisfied, click the "Download" button to save your new image.

Step 3: Get better results

  • If the automatic cutout is not perfect, use the "Erase" and "Restore" brushes on the right side of the screen to fine-tune your image. Adjust the brush size using the slider for more precision.
  • For optimal results, choose images with clear subjects and contrasting backgrounds.

Pro tip

If you regularly work with images, create an account. This allows you to access your previous uploads easily and saves you time from having to re-upload files.

Common mistake to avoid

Avoid using images with busy backgrounds or low contrast, as these can lead to less accurate cutouts. Stick to images where the subject stands out clearly against the background.
