Getting started with Gling

With Gling, you'll quickly edit your YouTube videos by removing silences, bad takes, and filler words. After following this guide, you’ll be ready to streamline your editing process and enhance your video quality in no time.

Step 1: Sign up and set up

  1. Go to Gling's website.
  2. Click on the "Get Started" button on the homepage.
  3. Fill in your details to create an account. You may need to verify your email address.
  4. Once logged in, navigate to your dashboard.

Step 2: Your first video edit

  1. In your dashboard, click on the "Upload Video" button.
  2. Select the raw video footage you want to edit from your device.
  3. After the upload completes, Gling will automatically start analysing your footage.
  4. Once the analysis is finished, you’ll see options to review the changes. Click on "Review Edits" to see the suggested cuts.
  5. If you’re satisfied, click on the "Export Video" button to download your edited video.

Step 3: Get better results

  1. Experiment with the "Settings" menu before uploading. Here, you can adjust the sensitivity for silence detection and filler word removal.
  2. Use the "Preview" feature to listen to the edits before exporting. This helps ensure you’re happy with the changes.
  3. For better results, consider uploading shorter clips initially to understand how Gling handles different types of footage.

Pro tip

Most beginners miss the "Settings" menu, where you can fine-tune how Gling identifies silences and filler words. Adjust these settings based on your speaking style for more personalised edits.

Common mistake to avoid

A common mistake is uploading long videos without first reviewing the settings. This can lead to unwanted cuts or edits that may not align with your style. Always check your settings before uploading.
