How to Use Google ImageFX

A practical guide to get you up and running with Google ImageFX. Written by Delv Editorial, Delv Team.

Getting started with Google ImageFX

In this guide, you will learn how to create stunning images using Google ImageFX, a free AI image generator powered by Imagen 3. By the end, you'll be able to generate visuals based on your prompts with ease.

Step 1: Sign up and set up

  1. Go to the Google ImageFX website.
  2. Click on the "Get Started" button on the homepage.
  3. If prompted, sign in with your Google account. If you don’t have one, you’ll need to create a free account.
  4. Once logged in, you’ll be taken to the main interface where you can start generating images.

Step 2: Your first image

  1. In the input box labelled "Describe your image", type a detailed prompt for the image you want to create, for example, "a serene mountain landscape at sunset".
  2. Click the "Generate" button below the input box.
  3. Wait for the AI to process your request. This typically takes a few seconds.
  4. Once the image is generated, it will appear on the right side of the screen. You can click on the image to view it in full size.

Step 3: Get better results

  1. Be specific with your prompts. Instead of "a dog", try "a golden retriever playing in a park".
  2. Use descriptive adjectives and settings, such as "a futuristic city skyline at night with neon lights".
  3. Experiment with different styles by adding terms like "watercolour" or "digital art" to your prompts to see various artistic interpretations.
  4. If you want to create variations of an image, click on the "Regenerate" button to tweak the output based on the same prompt.

Pro tip

Try using bullet points in your prompts to specify multiple elements you want in the image. For example, "• A sunset • A beach • Palm trees" can lead to more complex and visually interesting images.

Common mistake to avoid

Avoid overly vague prompts. Simple phrases like "cat" may not yield the results you want. Always add context and details to guide the AI effectively.
