Getting started with Grain

In this guide, you'll learn how to set up Grain, record your first meeting, and extract valuable insights quickly. By the end, you'll be ready to enhance your customer interactions and streamline your workflow.

Step 1: Sign up and set up

  1. Go to Grain's website.
  2. Click on the “Get Started for Free” button.
  3. Sign up using your email address or Google account.
  4. Follow the prompts to set up your profile and connect your calendar (Google or Outlook) to schedule meetings.
  5. Once set up, navigate to the “Integrations” tab in the left sidebar to connect Grain with your preferred video conferencing tool (Zoom, Google Meet, or Microsoft Teams).

Step 2: Your first recording

  1. Schedule a meeting using your connected calendar.
  2. Once the meeting starts, open Grain and click on the “Record” button in the top right corner.
  3. During the meeting, you can highlight important moments by clicking the “Highlight” button. This creates clips that you can easily access later.
  4. After the meeting, Grain will automatically transcribe the conversation. You can find this in the “Recordings” section on the left sidebar.
  5. Review the transcription and use the “Clip” feature to select key moments you want to save.

Step 3: Get better results

  1. After creating clips, add tags and notes to each clip for better organisation.
  2. To sync insights to your CRM, navigate to the “Sync” tab and select your CRM (e.g., Salesforce). Follow the prompts to link your account.
  3. Use the “Insights” feature to generate summaries that can be shared with your team. This is accessible from the “Recordings” section after a meeting has been processed.

Pro tip

Use keyboard shortcuts while in the recording interface; for example, press “H” to highlight moments quickly without needing to click. This saves time during the meeting.

Common mistake to avoid

Many users forget to enable the Grain integration in their video conferencing tool before starting a meeting. Always check your integrations and settings prior to the call to ensure everything is set up properly.
