Step 2: Your first writing check

  1. After logging in, you'll land on the Grammarly dashboard. Click on “New Document” located on the left side.
  2. Paste or type your text into the editor.
  3. Grammarly will automatically start checking for errors. You'll see underlined suggestions for grammar, spelling, and style issues.
  4. Click on each underlined word or phrase to see Grammarly’s suggestions. To accept a suggestion, click on it, or ignore it by clicking outside the suggestion box.

Step 3: Get better results

  1. For improved suggestions, click on the “Goals” button in the right panel. Here, you can set your audience, formality, domain, tone, and intent.
  2. Adjust these settings according to your writing context to receive tailored feedback.
  3. Regularly check the “Performance” section to see your writing statistics, which can help you identify areas for improvement.

Pro tip

Install the Grammarly browser extension for real-time feedback while you write on websites like Gmail, Facebook, or any text field. Just click the extension icon in your browser to enable it.

Common mistake to avoid

Many users overlook the importance of setting their writing goals. If you don't specify your audience or tone, Grammarly may not provide the most relevant suggestions, leading to less effective edits. Always update your goals for each document.
