Getting started with Happy Scribe

After reading this guide, you’ll be able to transcribe audio or video files into text using Happy Scribe’s AI and human services. You can handle files up to 1GB in size and choose from over 120 languages.

Step 1: Sign up and set up

  1. Go to Happy Scribe.
  2. Click on the Sign Up button in the top right corner.
  3. Enter your email address and create a password, or sign up using Google or Facebook.
  4. Confirm your email address by clicking the link in the verification email sent to you.
  5. Once verified, log in to your account.

Step 2: Your first transcription

  1. On the dashboard, click on the Transcribe button.
  2. Choose whether you want to use the Automatic Transcription or Human Transcription option.
  3. Upload your audio or video file by clicking the Upload a file button. You can drag and drop files or select them from your device.
  4. Select the language of the audio from the dropdown menu.
  5. Click on the Start Transcription button.
  6. Wait for the transcription to complete. You will receive a notification when it’s ready.
  7. Once done, click on the file to review and edit the transcription. You can download it in various formats like Word or PDF.

Step 3: Get better results

  • For better accuracy, ensure your audio quality is clear and free from background noise.
  • Use the Edit feature after transcription to correct any inaccuracies. You can play the audio while editing to ensure the text matches.
  • If using the AI transcription, consider breaking longer files into smaller segments to improve accuracy and speed.

Pro tip

Use the Timestamp feature in the transcription settings to automatically add timestamps to your transcript. This helps in locating specific parts of the audio quickly.

Common mistake to avoid

Many users forget to select the correct language before starting the transcription. Always double-check the language setting to avoid errors in the final output.
