How to Use HireVue

Getting started with HireVue

In this guide, you'll learn how to set up your HireVue account and conduct your first AI video interview. You'll be able to assess candidates with AI-driven insights, moving beyond traditional resume evaluations.

Step 1: Sign up and set up

1. Go to HireVue's website.
2. Click on the “Get Started” button on the homepage.
3. Fill in your company details and contact information to create your account. You may need to verify your email address.
4. Once your account is set up, log in and navigate to the dashboard.

Step 2: Your first video interview

1. From the dashboard, click on the “Interviews” tab in the top menu.
2. Click the “Create New Interview” button.
3. Choose between a “Live Interview” or “On-Demand Interview.” For your first, select “On-Demand Interview”.
4. Name your interview and click “Next”.
5. Add questions by clicking “Add Question”. You can choose from pre-set questions or create your own.
6. Set the time limit for each question if desired, then click “Save”.
7. Once your interview is set, click “Send Invite” to share the interview link with candidates.

Step 3: Get better results

To enhance your candidate assessment:

• Review the AI-generated insights after each interview. These can be found in the “Insights” section under the interview results.
• Use structured scoring rubrics to evaluate candidates consistently. Click on “Scoring” in the interview results to access these tools.
• Consider using multiple interviewers for a more rounded assessment. Invite colleagues by clicking the “Invite Team” button in the interview settings.

Pro tip

Set up a template for your interviews by saving your questions and scoring criteria. This allows you to quickly create new interviews without starting from scratch.

Common mistake to avoid

Avoid skipping the AI insights review after interviews. Many users overlook this feature, missing valuable data that can improve hiring decisions. Always check the insights to understand candidate performance beyond their answers.
