Getting started with Later

After reading this guide, you will be able to set up your Later account, schedule your first social media post, and start using the AI caption writing feature to enhance your content.

Step 1: Sign up and set up

1. Go to later.com.
2. Click on the Get Started for Free button. Choose the Starter Plan for a free trial if available.
3. Enter your email address and create a password, or sign up using your Google or Facebook account.
4. Once signed in, select the social media platforms you want to connect (e.g., Instagram, TikTok).
5. Authorise Later to access your accounts by following the prompts.

Step 2: Your first post

1. In the Later dashboard, click on the Content tab in the left menu.
2. Click on the Media section to upload images or videos. Click on Upload Media and select files from your computer.
3. After uploading, go to the Calendar tab. Drag and drop your media onto the desired date.
4. A pop-up will appear; enter your caption or click on the Write Caption button to use AI-generated suggestions.
5. Set the time and date for your post, then click Save.

Step 3: Get better results

1. Use the Linkin.bio feature to create a clickable landing page for your social media links. Click on the Linkin.bio section in the left menu and follow the prompts to set it up.
2. Experiment with the Analytics section to track engagement metrics for your posts. Click on Analytics to view insights and adjust your strategy accordingly.
3. When writing captions, make sure to include relevant hashtags. Use the Hashtag Suggestions tool to find popular tags that fit your content.

Pro tip

Use the Auto Publish feature to schedule posts outside of your active hours. This allows your content to go live at optimal times without needing to be online.

Common mistake to avoid

Avoid skipping the social media account authorisation step. If you don't connect your accounts properly, your scheduled posts will not publish. Make sure you grant all necessary permissions during setup.
