Getting started with Lemlist

In this guide, you'll learn how to set up your Lemlist account and create your first personalised cold outreach campaign across email, LinkedIn, and phone. By the end, you'll be ready to engage your prospects effectively.

Step 1: Sign up and set up

  1. Go to Lemlist's website.
  2. Click on the "Start for free" button in the top right corner.
  3. Fill in your details (name, email, password) and click "Create my account."
  4. Confirm your email address by clicking the link sent to your inbox.
  5. Once logged in, complete the onboarding process by following the prompts to set up your profile and connect your email account.

Step 2: Your first outreach campaign

  1. From the Lemlist dashboard, click on the "Campaigns" tab in the left sidebar.
  2. Click the "Create campaign" button.
  3. Choose "Email" as your outreach method.
  4. Enter your campaign name and select your target audience by uploading a CSV file or adding contacts manually.
  5. Click "Next" to create your email sequence.
  6. Use the email editor to craft your message. Incorporate personalisation tokens (like {{first_name}}) to make it feel tailored.
  7. Add images or videos by clicking the "Insert" button in the editor.
  8. Set the sending schedule and click "Launch campaign" to start your outreach.

Step 3: Get better results

  • Experiment with A/B testing by creating multiple email sequences and measuring their performance.
  • Use Lemlist’s "Dynamic Images" feature to add images that change based on the recipient's data.
  • Monitor engagement through the "Analytics" tab to see open rates and replies, then adjust your messaging accordingly.

Pro tip

Take advantage of Lemlist’s "Follow-up" feature. Set automated follow-up emails to be sent if recipients don’t respond within a certain timeframe, increasing your chances of engagement.

Common mistake to avoid

Avoid sending your campaign without testing it first. Use the "Preview" feature to check how your emails will appear to recipients, ensuring all personalisation tokens and images display correctly.
