Getting started with Lens.org

In this guide, you'll learn how to navigate Lens.org, an open discovery platform that connects scholarly works, patents, and datasets. By the end, you’ll be able to search for and access a wealth of academic resources quickly and effectively.

Step 1: Sign up and set up

  1. Go to Lens.org.
  2. Click on the "Sign Up" button located in the top right corner.
  3. Fill in your email address and create a password, then click "Create Account." You can also sign up using Google or ORCID.
  4. Verify your email if prompted. Once logged in, you can set up your profile by adding your research interests.
  1. On the homepage, you’ll see a search bar. Enter a keyword or phrase related to your research topic.
  2. Click the magnifying glass icon or press "Enter" to initiate the search.
  3. Use the filters on the left side of the results page to narrow down your search by type (e.g., scholarly articles, patents, or datasets).
  4. Click on any title to view the full details and related works. You can also save articles to your personal library by clicking the "Save" button.

Step 3: Get better results

  1. Use advanced search options by clicking on "Advanced Search" under the search bar. Here, you can combine keywords, specify authors, or limit by date.
  2. Set alerts for specific keywords by clicking on "Create Alert" after performing a search. This will notify you of new publications matching your criteria.
  3. Explore the "Cited By" section in article details to find related research that cites the work you’re interested in.

Save time by creating collections in your personal library. You can group related articles, patents, or datasets for easier access later. Just click on the "Add to Collection" button when viewing an item.
