How to Use Natively

A practical guide to get you up and running with Natively. Written by Delv Editorial, Delv Team.

Getting started with Natively

In this guide, you'll learn how to create your first mobile app using Natively, an AI tool that turns text descriptions into functional React Native apps. You'll be able to build a prototype without any coding knowledge in just a few minutes.

Step 1: Sign up and set up

  1. Go to natively.dev.
  2. Click on the “Get Started” button located on the homepage.
  3. Enter your email address and create a password, or use a social login option if available.
  4. Verify your email if prompted, and log in to your new account.

Step 2: Your first app

  1. Once logged in, click on the “Create New App” button on your dashboard.
  2. In the text box, describe your app idea clearly and concisely. For example, “A to-do list app with reminders and categories.”
  3. Click “Generate App” to let Natively process your description.
  4. Wait a few moments while the AI builds your app. Once complete, you’ll see an overview of your app’s structure.
  5. Click on “Preview” to see how your app looks and functions.

Step 3: Get better results

  1. To improve your app, click on “Edit” next to different sections (like UI components or settings).
  2. Add more details to your text descriptions. For example, specify colours, button styles, or additional features like “Add notifications for due tasks.”
  3. Regularly click “Regenerate” to see updated versions of your app based on your enhanced descriptions.
  4. Test the app by clicking “Test on Device” to ensure functionality on your mobile device.

Pro tip

Use bullet points in your app descriptions to clearly outline features and functionalities. This helps the AI understand your requirements better and produce more accurate results.

Common mistake to avoid

Avoid being vague in your descriptions. Instead of saying “an app for shopping,” specify what features you want, like “an app for shopping that includes a wishlist, user reviews, and a search function.” This will lead to a more tailored app.
