Getting started with Omnisend

In this guide, you'll learn how to set up your Omnisend account and create your first email and SMS marketing campaign. By the end, you'll be able to automate customer engagement effectively.

Step 1: Sign up and set up

  1. Go to Omnisend.
  2. Click on the “Get Started” button on the homepage.
  3. Enter your email address and create a password, or sign up using your Shopify or BigCommerce account for quicker setup.
  4. Fill in your store details, including your store name and website URL, then click “Next”.
  5. Choose your marketing goals and click “Finish Setup”.

Step 2: Your first campaign

  1. From the Omnisend dashboard, click on the “Campaigns” tab in the left sidebar.
  2. Click the “Create Campaign” button.
  3. Choose either “Email” or “SMS” based on your preference.
  4. For an email campaign, select a template or start from scratch. Click “Next”.
  5. Customise your email content by dragging and dropping elements from the left panel. Use the “Preview” button to see how it looks.
  6. Set up your recipients by choosing a segment or adding contacts manually.
  7. Click “Schedule” to choose a delivery time or “Send Now” to go live immediately.

Step 3: Get better results

  1. Explore the “Automations” tab to set up pre-built workflows like Welcome Series or Abandoned Cart. Click “Create Automation” and choose a workflow template.
  2. Customise the triggers and actions to suit your needs. For example, set a trigger for when a user subscribes to your list.
  3. Use A/B testing to optimise your campaigns. You can find this option when creating a campaign under “Settings”.

Common mistake to avoid

Many beginners forget to segment their audience effectively, leading to irrelevant messages. Always create targeted segments based on customer behaviours to improve engagement rates.
