Getting started with Palette.fm
In this guide, you will learn how to use Palette.fm to add colour to your black-and-white photographs accurately. By the end, you'll be able to upload images and see them transformed into colourful renditions that respect historical accuracy.Step 1: Sign up and set up
- Go to Palette.fm.
- Click on the “Sign Up” button located in the top right corner.
- Enter your email address and create a password, or sign up using Google or Facebook.
- Confirm your email if prompted. You can now log in and start using the tool.
Step 2: Your first colourisation
- Once logged in, click on the “Upload” button on the main page.
- Select a black-and-white photo from your device that you want to colourise.
- After the upload, click on the “Colourise” button that appears on the image thumbnail.
- Wait for the AI to process the image. This may take a few moments.
- Once completed, you will see the colourised version. Click “Download” to save the new image to your device.
Step 3: Get better results
- For optimal results, choose high-resolution black-and-white images. The clearer the details, the better the AI can interpret colours.
- Use the “Adjust” slider after colourisation to tweak the saturation and vibrancy according to your preference.
- Experiment with different images to see how the AI interprets various subjects, such as landscapes, portraits, and objects.
