Getting started with Photoroom

In this guide, you'll learn how to quickly remove backgrounds from your images and enhance product photos using Photoroom. By the end, you’ll be able to create professional-looking images for your e-commerce store in just a few minutes.

Step 1: Sign up and set up

1. Go to Photoroom's website.
2. Click the "Sign Up" button in the top right corner.
3. Choose to sign up using your email or a social media account (like Google or Facebook).
4. Follow the prompts to complete your registration.
5. Once logged in, you’ll be taken to the main dashboard.

Step 2: Your first background removal

1. On the dashboard, click the "Start from Photo" button.
2. Upload the image you want to edit by clicking "Upload" or dragging the file into the designated area.
3. Wait a few seconds while Photoroom processes the image. The background will be automatically removed.
4. If you want to add a new background, click on the “Background” section on the left panel and choose from the options or upload your own.
5. Click “Download” in the top right corner to save your edited image. Note that images will have a watermark unless you upgrade to Pro.

Step 3: Get better results

1. For more refined results, use the “Edit” options on the left panel. You can adjust the image brightness, contrast, and saturation.
2. Use the “Erase” and “Restore” tools to manually adjust any areas where the background removal may not have been perfect.
3. Explore the "Templates" section to create product displays or promotional images. Choose a template and add your edited image.

Pro tip

Use the “Batch Processing” feature available in the Pro plan to upload multiple images at once. This will save you time if you have several products to edit.

Common mistake to avoid

Many users forget to check the quality of their final image before downloading. Always zoom in on your image to ensure the background removal is clean and there are no leftover artefacts before saving.
