Getting started with Pictory

In this guide, you'll learn how to create engaging videos from your written content using Pictory. By the end, you'll be able to transform blog posts, articles, or scripts into branded videos complete with visuals and captions.

Step 1: Sign up and set up

  1. Go to Pictory's website.
  2. Click on the “Get Started” button on the homepage.
  3. Choose a plan that suits you; there's a Starter plan at $23/month for 30 videos.
  4. Fill in your details to create an account and verify your email address.

Step 2: Your first video

  1. Once logged in, click on the “Create New Video” button.
  2. Select “Text to Video” from the options.
  3. Paste your blog post, article, or script into the text box.
  4. Click on “Next” to let Pictory analyse your text and suggest visuals.
  5. Review the selected visuals and captions. You can adjust the text and visuals by clicking on each scene.
  6. When satisfied, click on the “Generate Video” button. Pictory will process your video, which may take a minute or two.
  7. Once completed, you’ll see the video preview. Click “Download” to save it or share it directly from Pictory.

Step 3: Get better results

  • Use short paragraphs in your text for better scene segmentation.
  • Experiment with different themes by clicking on the “Theme” button before generating your video. This can change the look of your video significantly.
  • Add background music by clicking on the “Audio” tab and selecting a track that fits your content.

Pro tip

Take advantage of the “Auto-Highlight” feature to automatically select the most compelling parts of your text. This saves time by ensuring your video focuses on key messages.

Common mistake to avoid

Avoid using overly long text blocks. If your script is too lengthy, Pictory may struggle to create engaging scenes. Aim for concise paragraphs to enhance visual storytelling.
