Getting started with Placeit

In this guide, you'll learn how to create stunning product mockups using Placeit. By the end, you'll be able to generate high-quality visuals for your products quickly and easily.

Step 1: Sign up and set up

1. Go to Placeit.net.
2. Click on the "Sign Up" button located at the top right corner of the homepage.
3. Choose to sign up with your email, Google, or Facebook account. If you use email, fill in the required fields and click "Create Account."
4. Once signed up, you can explore the free templates. However, to access premium templates, consider subscribing to a paid plan.

Step 2: Your first mockup

1. On the homepage, hover over the "Mockups" tab in the top menu and select a category (e.g., "Apparel" or "Tech").
2. Browse through the templates and click on one that fits your product.
3. You’ll be taken to the mockup editor. Click on the "Upload" button to add your design file.
4. Adjust your design's size and position to fit the template. Use the drag handles to resize or reposition your image.
5. Once satisfied, click the "Download" button. Choose a format (JPEG or PNG) and select the resolution. If you're on a free plan, you may only have access to lower resolutions.

Step 3: Get better results

1. Use high-resolution images for your designs to ensure the best quality in mockups.
2. Experiment with different templates to find the one that best showcases your product.
3. Adjust the background colour or texture using the options on the right side of the editor to enhance the visual appeal.
4. Explore other features like animations or video mockups if your plan allows.

Pro tip

Use the "Favourites" feature by clicking the heart icon on templates you like. This way, you can easily find and access your preferred templates later without scrolling through the entire library.

Common mistake to avoid

Many users forget to check the resolution settings before downloading. Ensure you select the appropriate resolution for your intended use, especially if you need high-quality prints or digital displays.
