Getting started with ProWritingAid

In this guide, you'll learn how to set up ProWritingAid and use it to enhance your writing. By the end, you'll be able to run your text through its analysis reports and improve your grammar, style, and readability.

Step 1: Sign up and set up

  1. Go to ProWritingAid's website.
  2. Click on the "Get Started" button in the top right corner.
  3. Choose the Free Plan to start without any payment. Enter your email and create a password, then click "Create Account."
  4. Confirm your email address by checking your inbox and clicking on the verification link.
  5. Log in to your new account.

Step 2: Your first analysis

  1. Once logged in, you'll be directed to the dashboard. Click on "New Document" in the top left corner.
  2. Paste your text into the editor. Remember, the free plan allows up to 500 words.
  3. Click on the "Analyze" button located at the top of the editor.
  4. Wait a moment as ProWritingAid processes your text.
  5. Review the analysis reports on the left side of the screen. Click on each report to see specific suggestions and improvements.

Step 3: Get better results

  1. Use the "Suggestions" tab to view and apply changes to your text.
  2. Explore the different reports such as "Grammar," "Style," "Readability," and "Overused Words." Click on each report to get targeted advice.
  3. Make changes directly in the editor as you go through the suggestions.
  4. For a more in-depth analysis, consider using the "Desktop App" or Browser Extension for additional features.

Pro tip

To save time, use the "Summary" report to get an overview of your most critical issues at a glance. This helps you focus on what needs the most attention without getting lost in the details.

Common mistake to avoid

Many beginners forget to check the "Settings" menu to adjust the writing style according to their needs (e.g., academic, business, creative). Make sure to set this before analysing your text for more tailored suggestions.
