Getting started with Recraft

With Recraft, you can quickly generate vector art, icons, and illustrations using simple text prompts. After reading this guide, you will be able to create your first design in just a few minutes.

Step 1: Sign up and set up

1. Go to Recraft's website.
2. Click on the "Sign Up" button located at the top right corner.
3. Choose to sign up using your email address or a social media account.
4. Follow the prompts to verify your account and complete your profile.
5. Once you’re logged in, you will be taken to the dashboard where you can start creating designs.

Step 2: Your first design

1. On the dashboard, click on the "Create New Design" button.
2. In the prompt box, type a description of the design you want to create. For example, "a minimalist cat icon".
3. Click the "Generate" button.
4. Wait a few moments while Recraft processes your request.
5. Once generated, you will see a selection of designs. Click on the one you like to open it in the editor.
6. Use the toolbar on the left to adjust colours, shapes, and sizes as needed.
7. When you’re satisfied, click the "Download" button at the top right to save your design.

Step 3: Get better results

• Be specific in your prompts. Instead of just "a tree", try "a cartoon-style oak tree with a swing".
• Experiment with different styles by adding keywords like "flat", "3D", or "outline" to your prompts.
• Use the "Edit" options in the toolbar to tweak the generated designs further, ensuring they match your vision.

Pro tip

If you want to generate multiple variations of a design, use the "Duplicate" button on the design preview page before clicking "Generate". This saves your original design while you experiment with new variations.

Common mistake to avoid

Avoid vague prompts. Simply stating "a logo" or "an icon" often leads to unsatisfactory results. Always include specific details to guide the AI in generating what you truly want.
