Getting started with Riverside

In this guide, you'll learn how to set up Riverside for high-quality remote recording of podcasts and videos. By the end, you'll be ready to record your first session with ease.

Step 1: Sign up and set up

  1. Go to riverside.fm.
  2. Click on the "Sign Up" button in the top right corner.
  3. Choose to sign up with an email or use a Google account.
  4. Fill in the required details and confirm your email address.
  5. Once logged in, select the free plan to get started with 2 hours of recording per month.
  6. Complete your profile by adding your name and preferred recording settings under "Settings".

Step 2: Your first recording

  1. On the dashboard, click the "Create a New Studio" button.
  2. Choose between "Audio" or "Video" recording.
  3. Set a name for your studio and click "Create Studio".
  4. Invite guests by clicking the "Invite Guests" button and sharing the generated link.
  5. Once your guests join, click the "Record" button to start capturing your session.
  6. After recording, click "Stop" and then "End Recording" to save the file.

Step 3: Get better results

  1. Ensure all participants have a good microphone and camera setup.
  2. Use the "Settings" menu to adjust recording quality—select the highest available option for the best results.
  3. For AI transcription, click on the "Transcriptions" tab after your recording is complete and select "Generate Transcript".
  4. Review and edit the transcription directly in Riverside if needed.

Use the "Local Recording" feature to ensure each participant's audio and video is captured at the highest quality, regardless of internet connection.

Don't forget to check your audio and video settings before recording. Many users fail to ensure their microphone and camera are correctly selected, leading to poor-quality recordings. Always do a quick test before starting.
