How to Use SciSpace

Getting started with SciSpace

In this guide, you'll learn how to set up your SciSpace account and use its features to simplify your academic research. By the end, you'll be able to extract key information from papers and summarise complex content with ease.

Step 1: Sign up and set up

1. Go to SciSpace.
2. Click on the Sign Up button at the top right corner.
3. Choose to sign up with your email or a social media account.
4. Complete your profile by providing the required details and confirming your email address.
5. Once logged in, explore the dashboard where you'll find options for accessing the Copilot and other features.

Step 2: Your first task

1. To analyse a paper, click on the Upload button on the dashboard.
2. Select a PDF of an academic paper from your device.
3. Once uploaded, click on the paper title to open it.
4. In the right-hand panel, click on Use Copilot. This will activate the AI assistant.
5. Ask a specific question or type a command, such as "Summarise the introduction" or "Explain the results section".
6. Review the generated response and refine your question if needed for clarity.

Step 3: Get better results

• Use specific prompts for the Copilot, like “Extract data from Table 1” or “Summarise the key findings” for more precise outputs.
• Take advantage of the Highlight feature to mark important sections in the text, which you can reference later.
• Regularly check the Library section to keep track of all your uploaded papers and their analyses.

Pro tip

Use the browser extension to quickly upload papers directly from your web browser. This saves time as you won’t need to download files to your device first.

Common mistake to avoid

Avoid vague prompts like "Explain this paper". Instead, be specific about which sections or aspects you want to focus on to get more accurate and useful responses from the Copilot.
