Getting started with Snappa

In this guide, you'll learn how to create stunning graphics quickly using Snappa. By the end, you’ll be able to design visuals for social media, blogs, or ads with ease.

Step 1: Sign up and set up

1. Go to snappa.com.
2. Click on the "Get Started Free" button on the homepage.
3. Enter your email address and create a password, or sign up using your Google account.
4. Once signed up, you’ll be taken to the Snappa dashboard.

Step 2: Your first graphic

1. On the dashboard, click on the "Create a New Graphic" button.
2. Choose a template size from the available options (e.g., Social Media, Blog, Ad).
3. Browse through the templates or use the search bar to find a specific style.
4. Click on a template to open it in the editor.
5. Use the left sidebar to drag and drop elements like text, images, and shapes onto your canvas.
6. To add images, click on the "Photos" tab in the sidebar, search for your desired image, and drag it onto your design.
7. Once satisfied, click the "Download" button in the top right corner to save your graphic.

Step 3: Get better results

1. Experiment with the "Text" options to change fonts, sizes, and colours. Use the "Effects" tab to add shadows or outlines for better visibility.
2. Adjust image transparency using the "Opacity" slider to create overlays.
3. Save your designs using the "Save" button in the top right corner, which allows you to return and edit later.

Use the "Custom Size" option when creating a new graphic to set specific dimensions that suit your needs, especially for unique social media formats.

Common mistake to avoid

Avoid using too many fonts or colours in one design. Stick to two or three complementary fonts and a limited colour palette to maintain a professional look.
