How to Use Speechify

Getting started with Speechify

In this guide, you'll learn how to quickly set up Speechify and convert text into audio. By the end, you'll be able to listen to PDFs, articles, and more, making reading more accessible and enjoyable.

Step 1: Sign up and set up

1. Go to speechify.com.
2. Click on the “Get Started” button on the homepage.
3. Choose to sign up using your email or your Google account.
4. If prompted, select the free plan to start with standard voices.
5. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete your profile.

Step 2: Your first audio file

1. Once logged in, click on the “Upload” button located at the top of the dashboard.
2. Select a file from your computer, or choose “Paste URL” to use a web article.
3. After the document is uploaded, click on the “Play” button to start listening.
4. Adjust the playback speed using the slider at the bottom of the screen if needed.

Step 3: Get better results

1. Explore the “Settings” icon (gear symbol) in the top right corner to choose different voices.
2. For OCR, click on the camera icon in the app to take a photo of printed text.
3. Ensure the text is clear and well-lit for the best results. After capturing, select “Play” to listen.
4. Use the bookmarks feature to save sections you want to revisit later.

Common mistake to avoid

Avoid uploading large documents all at once. Break them into smaller sections to ensure smoother processing and playback.
