A practical guide to get you up and running with STORM. Written by Delv Editorial, Delv Team.

Getting started with STORM

With STORM, you will learn how to generate detailed, cited reports on various topics using AI. This guide will walk you through signing up, creating your first report, and enhancing your results in just a few minutes.

Step 1: Sign up and set up

  1. Go to STORM's website.
  2. Click on the "Sign Up" button located at the top right corner of the homepage.
  3. Fill in your details and create an account. You can sign up for free as there are no charges.
  4. Once registered, log in with your new credentials.

Step 2: Your first report

  1. After logging in, click on "Create New Report" on your dashboard.
  2. In the prompt field, type your research question or topic. For example, "The impact of climate change on polar bears."
  3. Click the "Generate Report" button.
  4. STORM will process your query and compile a report. This may take a few moments.
  5. Once completed, review the report sections and check the citations provided at the end.

Step 3: Get better results

  1. Use specific keywords or phrases in your prompts for more targeted results. Instead of "climate change," try "climate change effects on polar bear populations."
  2. Explore the mind map feature by clicking on the "Co-STORM" option. This allows you to visualise the connections between different pieces of information.
  3. Adjust the depth of information by selecting "Basic," "Intermediate," or "Advanced" levels when generating your report for varying levels of detail.

Pro tip

To save time, always check the "Advanced" option for your first report. This setting usually provides a more comprehensive overview and reduces the need for follow-up queries.

Common mistake to avoid

Avoid using vague or broad terms in your prompts. Instead of asking for general information, be specific about what you want to know to get more relevant results.
