Getting started with SubMagic

With SubMagic, you’ll quickly create engaging short-form videos for platforms like TikTok and Instagram Reels. This guide will walk you through setting up your account, creating your first video, and optimising your results.

Step 1: Sign up and set up

  1. Go to SubMagic.co.
  2. Click on the “Get Started for Free” button on the homepage.
  3. Enter your email and create a password, or sign up using your Google account.
  4. Confirm your email if prompted, and log in to your new account.

Step 2: Your first video

  1. Once logged in, click on the “Create New Video” button in the dashboard.
  2. Upload your video file by clicking the “Upload” button. You can drag and drop your video or select it from your device.
  3. After the upload completes, click on “Add Captions”. SubMagic will automatically generate captions for your video.
  4. To remove any silences, check the option for “Remove Silences” and click “Apply”.
  5. If you want to add B-roll, select “Add B-roll” and choose clips from the library that fit your video.
  6. Once everything looks good, click “Export” to generate your video.

Step 3: Get better results

  • Experiment with the caption styles by clicking on “Caption Settings” to choose fonts, colours, and positions that match your brand.
  • Use the “Preview” feature to see how your video will look before finalising the export.
  • For best results, consider keeping videos under 60 seconds to fit platform guidelines.

Pro tip

Use the “Templates” feature to save time on future projects. You can create a template with your preferred styles and settings, which allows you to start new videos with just a few clicks.

Common mistake to avoid

Avoid uploading videos that exceed the recommended resolution limits. SubMagic works best with videos at 4K resolution or lower; exceeding this can lead to longer processing times or export errors.
