A practical guide to get you up and running with Summize. Written by Delv Editorial, Delv Team.

Getting started with Summize

In this guide, you will learn how to set up Summize and manage your contracts efficiently through Microsoft Teams or Slack. By the end, you'll be able to summarise contracts and extract key clauses without switching between platforms.

Step 1: Sign up and set up

  1. Go to the Summize website.
  2. Click on the “Get Started” button located at the top right corner of the homepage.
  3. Fill in the required information, including your email address and a secure password, then click “Sign Up”.
  4. Once registered, you will receive a confirmation email. Click the link in that email to verify your account.
  5. After verification, log in and navigate to the integration settings to link either Microsoft Teams or Slack by clicking on “Integrations” in the menu.

Step 2: Your first contract review

  1. In the Summize dashboard, click on the “Upload Contract” button.
  2. Select the contract file from your device (PDF or Word format) and click “Open”.
  3. Once uploaded, Summize will process the contract. After a few moments, you will see a summary of key clauses on the screen.
  4. To collaborate with your team, go to the “Share” button and select your integrated platform (Microsoft Teams or Slack) to send the summary directly to your channel or chat.

Step 3: Get better results

  1. Use the “Custom Tags” feature to label different clauses for easy retrieval later. Click “Add Tag” next to any clause you want to tag.
  2. Experiment with the “Advanced Settings” to adjust how detailed the summaries are. You can access this by clicking on “Settings” in the sidebar.
  3. Regularly review your uploaded contracts to refine your tagging process and improve your summaries over time.

Pro tip

Utilise the “Templates” feature to create standardised summaries for similar types of contracts. This saves you time when reviewing contracts with similar structures.

Common mistake to avoid

Many users forget to verify their email after signing up, which prevents them from accessing the platform. Make sure to check your inbox for the verification email and follow the link provided.
