How to Use Suno

A practical guide to get you up and running with Suno. Written by Delv Editorial, Delv Team.

Getting started with Suno

In this guide, you'll learn how to create full songs using Suno's AI music generation platform. By the end, you'll be able to generate songs with vocals, instruments, and lyrics from a simple text prompt.

Step 1: Sign up and set up

  1. Go to suno.com.
  2. Click on the “Sign Up” button in the top right corner.
  3. Choose to sign up with your email or a social media account.
  4. Fill in your details and confirm your email address if prompted.
  5. Once logged in, you’ll be on the dashboard where you can start creating music.

Step 2: Your first song

  1. On the dashboard, locate the “Create” button, usually found in the centre or top of the page.
  2. Click on it to access the song creation interface.
  3. In the text box, type in your song prompt (e.g., "a happy pop song about summer").
  4. Select the genre and mood from the dropdown menus.
  5. Click the “Generate” button. Wait a few moments while Suno creates your song.
  6. Once generated, you can listen to your song and make adjustments if needed. Use the “Edit” button to tweak lyrics or instrumentation.

Step 3: Get better results

  1. Experiment with different prompts to see how changes affect the music. Be specific about themes and styles.
  2. Use the “Advanced Settings” option to adjust tempo, key, and vocal style for more control over your song.
  3. If you’re not satisfied with the first output, try regenerating the song or modifying your prompt slightly for better results.

Pro tip

When creating your song, include specific keywords related to instruments or styles (like “acoustic guitar” or “jazz”) to guide the AI more effectively.

Common mistake to avoid

Avoid vague prompts like “make a song.” Instead, be descriptive and include elements like genre, mood, and themes to ensure the AI produces something closer to what you envision.
