A practical guide to get you up and running with SVGMaker. Written by Delv Editorial, Delv Team.

Getting started with SVGMaker

In this guide, you'll learn how to create, edit, and convert SVG graphics using SVGMaker. By the end, you'll be able to design logos or icons with ease, even if you have no prior design experience.

Step 1: Sign up and set up

  1. Go to svgmaker.io.
  2. Click on the "Get Started" button on the homepage.
  3. If prompted, sign up for a free account by entering your email and creating a password. You may also have the option to sign in using Google.
  4. Once signed in, you’ll be taken to your dashboard, where you can start creating your designs.

Step 2: Your first design

  1. On the dashboard, click on the “Create New” button.
  2. Choose either “Start from Scratch” or select a template from the “Templates” section.
  3. If you start from scratch, use the left toolbar to select shapes, text, or icons. Click and drag to position them on the canvas.
  4. To edit a shape, click on it, and use the right sidebar to change colours, sizes, and other properties.
  5. Once satisfied, click the “Download” button at the top right to save your SVG file.

Step 3: Get better results

  1. Use the “Layers” panel on the right to organise your design. This allows you to easily manage overlapping elements.
  2. Experiment with the “Effects” options to add shadows or gradients for a more polished look.
  3. If you're unsure about colours, use the “Colour Palette” tool to select complementary colours.
  4. Regularly save your work by clicking the “Save” icon at the top left.

Pro tip

Use keyboard shortcuts like Ctrl + Z (Undo) and Ctrl + S (Save) to speed up your workflow. Familiarising yourself with these will save you time in the long run.

Common mistake to avoid

Avoid overcrowding your design with too many elements. Keep it simple and focused; this will make your design more effective and easier to edit later.
