Getting started with Synthesia

In this guide, you'll learn how to create professional presenter-led videos using Synthesia's AI avatars. By the end, you'll be able to produce engaging video content from text in just a few minutes.

Step 1: Sign up and set up

  1. Go to synthesia.io.
  2. Click on the “Get started” button at the top right corner.
  3. Choose the “Starter” plan for $22/month, or opt for the “Creator” plan for $67/month if you need more videos.
  4. Fill in your details and create an account.
  5. Verify your email address by clicking the link in the confirmation email.

Step 2: Your first video

  1. Log in to your Synthesia account.
  2. Click on “Create video” from the dashboard.
  3. Select an AI avatar from the list provided.
  4. In the text box, enter the script you want the avatar to say. Keep it concise, as longer scripts may not fit well in the video.
  5. Choose your preferred language from the dropdown menu.
  6. Click the “Generate video” button. Wait a few moments for Synthesia to process your request.
  7. Once the video is ready, click “Preview” to watch it. If satisfied, click “Download” to save it.

Step 3: Get better results

  • Use short, clear sentences for better pronunciation and pacing.
  • Experiment with different avatars to find the one that best fits your content.
  • Add background images or music by clicking on the “Add background” option to enhance your video’s appeal.
  • Review the video settings to adjust aspects like resolution and aspect ratio before generating.

Pro tip

Use the “Script Assistant” feature to help you write and refine your script. It can suggest improvements and ensure your text is suitable for video presentation.

Common mistake to avoid

Avoid using overly complex language or jargon. This can lead to mispronunciations by the AI avatar and reduce the clarity of your message. Stick to simple language for the best results.
