In this guide, you'll learn how to quickly summarise articles and research papers using TLDR This. By the end, you'll be able to generate concise summaries in just a few clicks, saving you valuable time.

Step 1: Sign up and set up

1. Go to tldrthis.com.
2. Click on the Get Started for Free button on the homepage.
3. You can sign up using your email or continue with Google. Follow the prompts to complete your registration.
4. Once signed in, you’ll see the main dashboard where you can start summarising content.

Step 2: Your first summary

1. On the dashboard, find the text box that says Paste your article or research paper URL here.
2. You can either paste a URL or directly input text into this box.
3. After entering the content, click the Summarise button.
4. Wait a moment for TLDR This to process your request. The summary will appear below in a clear, concise format.

Step 3: Get better results

• For articles longer than a few paragraphs, use the Advanced Options to choose the level of detail you want in the summary. You can select between short, medium, or long summaries based on your needs.
• If you’re summarising a research paper, consider including key sections like the abstract or conclusion for a more focused summary.

Pro tip

If you frequently summarise similar types of content, save your preferences in the Settings menu. This way, you won't have to adjust them every time you summarise.

Common mistake to avoid

Avoid pasting excessively long texts that exceed the character limit set by TLDR This. If your input is too long, the tool may not process it correctly, leading to incomplete or missing summaries. Always check the character limit displayed in the text box.
