How to Use Wonder Dynamics (now Autodesk Flow Studio)

A practical guide to get you up and running with Wonder Dynamics (now Autodesk Flow Studio). Written by Delv Editorial, Delv Team.

Getting started with Wonder Dynamics

In this guide, you’ll learn how to integrate animated 3D characters into your live-action footage using Wonder Dynamics. By the end, you’ll be able to create engaging videos with animated elements seamlessly blended into your scenes.

Step 1: Sign up and set up

  1. Go to Wonder Dynamics.
  2. Click on the "Get Started" button on the homepage.
  3. Fill in the required information to create your account. You may need to verify your email.
  4. Log in to your account. Explore the dashboard to familiarise yourself with the layout.

Step 2: Your first animation

  1. Click on the “Create New Project” button on your dashboard.
  2. Upload your live-action footage by clicking the “Upload Video” option. Select the video file from your device.
  3. Once uploaded, the platform will automatically analyse your footage for human actors. Wait for the processing to complete.
  4. Choose an animated 3D character from the library. You can find this in the “Character Selection” menu.
  5. Once you select a character, click “Insert Character.” The AI will replace the detected human actor with the animated character.
  6. Preview your video by clicking the “Play” button. Adjust the character’s position or animation settings as needed.

Step 3: Get better results

  1. For more natural interactions, adjust the “Animation Settings” in the right panel. Experiment with different animations to see which fits best.
  2. Use the “Lighting Adjustment” tool to match the character’s lighting with your scene. This is found under the “Visual Effects” menu.
  3. Consider adding background music or sound effects to enhance the overall experience. Use the “Audio” tab to upload or select from the library.

Pro tip

Take advantage of the “Auto-Tracking” feature. It saves time by automatically adjusting the character’s position throughout the video, ensuring it stays in sync with the live action.

Common mistake to avoid

Many users forget to check the “Lighting Adjustment” before finalising their project. Ignoring this can lead to a noticeable difference in how the character blends into the scene, making it look less realistic. Always adjust lighting for a more polished result.
