Getting started with Fantastical

In this guide, you'll learn how to set up Fantastical, create your first event, and optimise your scheduling experience. By the end, you'll be ready to manage your calendar effectively using natural language commands.

Step 1: Sign up and set up

1. Go to the Fantastical website.
2. Click on the "Get Started" button on the homepage.
3. Choose the option to sign up for a free account. You can use your Apple ID for quick registration.
4. Download the Fantastical app from the Mac App Store or the App Store on your iPhone/iPad.
5. Open the app and log in with your account credentials.

Step 2: Your first event

1. In the Fantastical app, locate the text input field at the top of the screen.
2. Type a natural language command for your event, such as "Lunch with Sarah at noon on Friday."
3. Press "Enter" or click the "+" button to create the event.
4. Review the event details in the calendar view, and adjust the time or date if necessary by clicking on it.

Step 3: Get better results

1. Use specific phrases to enhance your scheduling. For example, "Weekly meeting every Tuesday at 10 AM" will set a recurring event.
2. Attach locations or reminders by adding them to your command, like "Doctor's appointment at 3 PM at the clinic with a reminder 30 minutes before."
3. Explore the settings by clicking on the gear icon in the top right corner to customise notifications, calendar views, and integrations with other apps.

Take advantage of keyboard shortcuts to save time. For example, use Command + N to quickly create a new event without needing to click around.

Common mistake to avoid

Avoid using overly complex phrases or vague terms when entering events. Stick to clear and concise language. For example, instead of saying "Meeting next week," specify the day and time to ensure Fantastical understands your intent correctly.
