Getting started with Miro AI

In this guide, you'll learn how to set up Miro AI and use its features to enhance collaboration and brainstorming with your team. You'll be able to create diagrams, summarise notes, and turn your ideas into structured plans in no time.

Step 1: Sign up and set up

  1. Go to miro.com.
  2. Click on the "Sign up free" button in the top right corner.
  3. Enter your email and create a password, or sign up using Google or Microsoft.
  4. Once signed up, select a plan. The free basic plan allows you to create up to 3 editable boards.
  5. Confirm your email if prompted and log in to your new Miro account.

Step 2: Your first board

  1. After logging in, click on "Create a new board" on your dashboard.
  2. Choose a template or start with a blank board. To select a template, click on "Templates" in the left sidebar and pick one that suits your needs.
  3. Use the toolbar on the left to add sticky notes by selecting the sticky note icon, then click on the canvas to place them.
  4. To generate a diagram, click on the "AI" icon in the toolbar, then select the feature you want (e.g., "Generate Diagram").
  5. Input your ideas or topics and click "Submit". The AI will create a diagram based on your input.

Step 3: Get better results

  1. For summarising sticky notes, select the notes you want to summarise, then click on the "AI" icon and choose "Summarise".
  2. Use the clustering feature by selecting related sticky notes, then click "Group" in the toolbar to organise ideas visually.
  3. Regularly use the "Comments" feature (speech bubble icon) to gather feedback from team members directly on the board.

Pro tip

Use keyboard shortcuts to speed up your workflow. For example, press "N" to quickly create a sticky note and "V" to switch to the selection tool without clicking.

Common mistake to avoid

Avoid overcrowding your board with too many elements at once. Focus on a few key ideas or sections at a time to keep your board organised and easy to navigate.
