Step 1: Sign up and set up

1. Go to Notion's website.
2. Click on the "Get Started for Free" button if you don't have an account. If you do, click "Log In."
3. Follow the prompts to create your account or log in.
4. Once logged in, navigate to your workspace. Ensure you have the AI feature enabled in your settings. To do this, click on "Settings & Members" in the sidebar and then select "Settings." Look for the "AI" section to enable it.

Step 2: Your first Q&A

1. Open a Notion page where you want to use the AI feature.
2. Type a question related to your notes, databases, or documents. For example, “What are my project deadlines?”
3. Press “Enter.” Notion AI will scan your entire workspace and display relevant answers in a pop-up window below your question.
4. Review the answers and click on any of the suggestions to navigate directly to the relevant page or section.

Step 3: Get better results

1. Be specific with your questions. Instead of asking “What is my plan?”, try “What are the steps for the marketing plan?”
2. Use keywords that are consistent with how you've labelled your notes or databases. This will help the AI find the most relevant information.
3. If you have a lot of data, consider organising your pages and databases more clearly. This will improve the accuracy of the results.

Pro tip

Use the "/" command to create a new block and type your question directly in it. This allows you to quickly access the AI feature without needing to format your text.

Common mistake to avoid

Avoid vague questions. If you ask general questions, the AI may struggle to provide useful responses. Always aim for clarity and specificity in your queries.
