Getting started with Text Blaze
With Text Blaze, you’ll be able to create custom text snippets that streamline your typing tasks, saving you time and effort. By the end of this guide, you'll know how to set up your first snippets and make your responses more efficient.Step 1: Sign up and set up
- Go to blaze.today.
- Click on the "Get Started for Free" button.
- If prompted, sign in with your Google account or create a new account.
- Once logged in, install the Text Blaze Chrome extension by clicking on the "Add to Chrome" button in the Chrome Web Store.
- After installation, you’ll see the Text Blaze icon (a T) in your Chrome toolbar.
Step 2: Your first snippet
- Click on the Text Blaze icon in the toolbar.
- In the sidebar that appears, click on the “Create New Snippet” button.
- In the snippet editor, enter a shortcut (e.g., “;greet”) that you will type to trigger the snippet.
- Below the shortcut, type the full text you want to expand (e.g., "Hello, how can I assist you today?").
- Click the "Save" button.
- To test your snippet, open a text field (like an email) and type the shortcut (e.g., “;greet”). Press the spacebar, and your full text should appear.
Step 3: Get better results
- Use placeholders in your snippets for dynamic content. For example, type “Hello, {name}” and set “name” as a placeholder.
- Explore the "Form" feature to create templates that ask for input every time you use them, ensuring personalised responses.
- Organise your snippets into folders by clicking “New Folder” in the sidebar for easier access.
