How to Use TimeBolt

A practical guide to get you up and running with TimeBolt. Written by Delv Editorial, Delv Team.

Getting started with TimeBolt

In this guide, you’ll learn how to quickly set up TimeBolt and start editing your audio and video by removing silences and filler words. By the end, you'll be able to streamline your content creation process efficiently.

Step 1: Sign up and set up

  1. Visit TimeBolt's website.
  2. Click on the "Download" button for your operating system (Windows or Mac).
  3. Once downloaded, open the installer and follow the on-screen instructions to install the application.
  4. Launch TimeBolt and create an account by clicking on "Sign Up" if you’re a new user, or log in if you already have an account.

Step 2: Your first video edit

  1. On the main dashboard, click the "Import" button to add your video or audio file.
  2. Select the file you want to edit from your computer and click "Open."
  3. Once your file is loaded, adjust the settings for silence detection and filler words by clicking on the "Settings" icon (gear symbol) in the top right corner. You can set thresholds for silence duration and choose which filler words to remove.
  4. Click the "Process" button to start editing. TimeBolt will automatically remove silences and filler words.
  5. Once processing is complete, click "Export" to save your edited file. Choose your desired format and location, then click "Save."

Step 3: Get better results

  1. Experiment with the "Preview" function before finalising edits. This lets you check how the changes look without exporting.
  2. Regularly adjust the silence detection threshold based on your content style. Shorter thresholds work better for fast-paced dialogues, while longer ones suit slower conversations.
  3. Use the "Undo" button if you need to revert any changes instantly.

Pro tip

To save time, set default settings in the "Preferences" menu for future projects. This way, you won’t have to adjust the same settings for each new video.

Common mistake to avoid

Avoid setting the silence threshold too low; this can lead to cutting out important dialogue. Test your settings with a short clip before processing longer videos to ensure quality.
