Getting started with tl;dv

With tl;dv, you can effortlessly record, transcribe, and summarise your Zoom and Google Meet calls. After this guide, you’ll be ready to streamline your meetings and access key highlights without the hassle of manual note-taking.

Step 1: Sign up and set up

  1. Go to tldv.io.
  2. Click on the “Get Started for Free” button.
  3. Create an account using your email address or sign up with Google.
  4. Install the tl;dv browser extension by clicking on the “Install Extension” button. Follow the prompts for your specific browser (Chrome or Firefox).
  5. Once installed, pin the extension to your toolbar for easy access.

Step 2: Your first recording

  1. Start your Google Meet or Zoom call as usual.
  2. Click on the tl;dv extension icon in your toolbar.
  3. Select “Start Recording” from the dropdown menu.
  4. Conduct your meeting. tl;dv will automatically transcribe everything in real-time.
  5. When the meeting ends, click the tl;dv icon again and select “Stop Recording.” Your recording will be saved automatically.

Step 3: Get better results

  1. After stopping the recording, navigate to the tl;dv dashboard by clicking on the extension icon and selecting “View Recordings.”
  2. Click on your latest recording to view the transcription.
  3. Use the “Summarise” button to generate a concise summary of the meeting.
  4. Explore the timestamped highlights to quickly jump to key moments by clicking on the timestamps in the transcript.

Pro tip

Use the “Highlight” feature during your meeting to mark important points as they happen. This allows you to quickly reference them later in your summary without having to sift through the entire transcript.

Common mistake to avoid

Don’t forget to click “Stop Recording” at the end of your meeting. If you close your browser or navigate away without stopping, your recording won’t save, and you’ll lose all the transcriptions. Always ensure you end the recording properly.
