Getting started with Tome

In this guide, you'll learn how to create engaging presentations using Tome, an AI-native platform that transforms your text into visually appealing slides. After reading this, you’ll be able to generate a narrative-driven deck quickly and effectively.

Step 1: Sign up and set up

1. Go to tome.app.
2. Click on the "Sign Up" button in the top right corner.
3. You can register using your email or Google account. For a free tier, select the basic plan.
4. Once signed up, complete your profile to get started.

Step 2: Your first presentation

1. After logging in, click on the "New Tome" button on your dashboard.
2. You’ll see a blank canvas with a prompt box. Enter a topic or paste in your content (e.g., “Marketing Strategies 2023”).
3. Click the "Generate" button. Tome will process your input and create a draft presentation.
4. Review the generated slides. You can edit text by clicking on any text box or image to customise it further.
5. To add new sections, click on the "+" icon on the left sidebar and choose "Add Slide."

Step 3: Get better results

1. To enhance your slides, use the "Format" options on the right sidebar. Here you can change styles, themes, and layouts.
2. Experiment with the AI Suggestions feature by clicking on "Suggest Changes" to improve your presentation flow.
3. For images, click on any image box and select "Replace Image" to find relevant visuals from the built-in library or upload your own.

Pro tip

Use keyboard shortcuts like “Ctrl + Z” to undo changes quickly and “Ctrl + D” to duplicate slides, saving you time during editing.

Common mistake to avoid

Avoid overwhelming your slides with too much text. Tome excels at narrative flow; focus on key points and let the AI design the layout for you.
