Getting started with Monday AI

In this guide, you'll learn how to set up Monday AI for effective project management and task generation. By the end, you'll be able to create your first project board and start utilising AI features to streamline your workflow.

Step 1: Sign up and set up

  1. Go to monday.com.
  2. Click on the Get Started button.
  3. Sign up using your email address. You can choose the Free Plan which allows you to manage up to 2 users.
  4. Follow the prompts to create your account and set up your profile.

Step 2: Your first project board

  1. Once logged in, click on the + New Board button on the left sidebar.
  2. Choose a template or select Start from Scratch.
  3. Name your board (e.g., "Project Kickoff") and click Create Board.
  4. To add tasks, click on the + Add Item button. Enter task names in the new rows.
  5. To assign tasks, click on the People column and select team members from the dropdown.
  6. To set due dates, click on the Date column and choose your dates.
  7. To generate content or tasks using AI, click on the AI Assistant button (usually located in the toolbar) and follow the prompts.

Step 3: Get better results

  1. Use the Views button at the top to switch between different views like Kanban or Gantt to see your tasks in various formats.
  2. Use the Automations feature (found in the top right corner) to set up triggers, such as notifying team members when a task is due.
  3. For formula building, click on a column header and select Column Settings, then choose Formula to create custom calculations based on your project data.

Pro tip

Use the Templates feature to quickly set up recurring projects. This saves time as you can replicate successful workflows without starting from scratch.

Common mistake to avoid

Don’t forget to regularly update your tasks and statuses. Failing to do so can lead to confusion and missed deadlines, undermining the benefits of using Monday AI.
