How to Use Notion Calendar

A practical guide to get you up and running with Notion Calendar. Written by Delv Editorial, Delv Team.

Getting started with Notion Calendar

In this guide, you'll learn how to set up Notion Calendar and start linking your events directly to your Notion workspace pages. By the end, you’ll be able to keep track of your schedule without losing sight of your tasks.

Step 1: Sign up and set up

  1. Go to Notion Calendar.
  2. Click on the "Get Started for Free" button.
  3. If you don’t have a Notion account, you’ll be prompted to create one. Fill in your details and follow the prompts to verify your email.
  4. Once logged in, navigate to the sidebar on the left and click on "Add a Page" to create a new page where you’ll link your calendar.

Step 2: Your first event

  1. On your new page, click the "+" button or type /calendar to insert a calendar block.
  2. Click on the calendar block to open it. Here you can add your first event by selecting the date and clicking on the "+" icon.
  3. Fill in the event details such as title, time, and description.
  4. To link this event to a specific Notion page, click on "Add a link" in the event details and select the relevant page from your workspace.

Step 3: Get better results

  1. Use the "Filter" option in the calendar view to display specific events (e.g., only show deadlines).
  2. Customise your calendar's appearance by clicking on "Properties" to show the information that’s most relevant to you.
  3. Set reminders for events by clicking on the event and selecting "Add Reminder" to ensure you never miss a deadline.

Pro tip

Use the drag-and-drop feature to quickly reschedule events. Just click on an event and drag it to a new date or time.

Common mistake to avoid

Avoid creating multiple calendars for different purposes. Instead, focus on using one calendar and categorising events with tags or colours to keep everything organised in one place.
